Yoga for Stronger Bones

A yoga sequence proven to increase bone density with regular daily practice. This class has been developed using the 12 Postures vs Osteoporosis created by Dr Loren Fishman. His important research and pilot studies have demonstrated how yoga postures, even just 12 minutes per day, can greatly increase bone density, strength, flexibility and balance. This class uses the 12 postures and includes additional postures while varying the sequence from time to time. It also includes a warm up to begin and ends with restorative postures. 60 - 75 minutes.

Strengthen & Restore

This class combines a gentle flowing vinyasa sequence, a series of static postures for building strength and balance, and opens the body with a few powerful restorative postures. 75-90 minutes.

Pranayama Practice

This class is suitable for beginners and only requires a comfortable seated and/or lying down position. Approximately 60 minutes. Not currently offered. Please watch for updates.

Join us for yogic breathing to nourish the body and calm the mind. Each class includes Ujjayi Pranayama and other yogic breathing practices such as Bhramari, Alternate Nostril Breathing, Kapalbhati and the 4-7-8 Breath. Using yoga techniques of Dr Vasant Lad and Dr Richard Miller, participants are encouraged to practice what feels comfortable for them as we gradually increase the number of repetitions and add new practices. Pranayama not only increases the flow of oxygen through the body, it restores our reservoir of prana and helps us connect to a quiet inner space.  The class ends with the Kirtan Kriya or a Guided Mindfulness Meditation.
